Glass Lamination / Interlayer
About
Glass lamination is one of the fastest growing segments of the glass market. Many glass fabricators and glass producers are purchasing autoclave and smaller batch autoclave free laminating systems to bring custom, storm, blast, and artistic glass lamination processes in-house.
Interlayer, the laminate material baked between glass layers, is often 3-6 times more expensive than the glass it is laminated between. Yet, unlike the glass which is cut with a CNC glass cutter and nesting software for maximum material yield, the interlayer is cut by hand resulting in high labor and wasted material costs.
Introducing a Carlson Lami-Cutter into your lami line's work flow will reduce material waste by 10-20%, reduce labor, increase turnover, eliminate post trimming, and decrease material handling which will all lead to a cleaner, higher quality finished product. Even with conservative material savings estimated at 10%, it takes very little production volume to provide a 1 year ROI.
Which Plotter/Cutter:
The PT-96" can plot/cut 88" wide material, ideal for cutting 87" wide PVB. Using the widest material possible will yield the bestefficiencyfor optimal material savings. The PT's industrial design makes it ideally suited for the rigorous workenvironmentof a glass plant. PVB, EVA, SGP, Spall Shield, Alphasure, TPU, and PET can all be cut using the standard steel rotary blade holder.
Which Vacuum Table:
Phillocraft vacuum table 8'x12'. 12' long tables willaccommodatemost glass panel sizes for lamination, while still being small enough to fit in most clean rooms. Longer tables are available if used with EVA or other interlayer that does not require a clean room. Recommend 1.5HP radial vacuum blower andPolyethylenecutting surface.
Which Accessories:
Carbide Drag Blade Holder -- for detailed cutting interlayer or heavier SGP(Sentry Glass).
Swivel Sign Knife -- for cutting masks for sand blasting.
Hot Tip -- for cutting sand blast masks directly on glass.
T-Bar Digitizer -- use this to digitize cardboard or paper patterns or custom shapes. Will produce a DXF file for your glass table.
Which Software:
Carlson Design Plotmaster software can import from most CNC glass cutters and glass nesting software, as well as most CAD programs. We have a custom rectangle and shapes program for just-in-time manufacturing.
Preloaded and test Windows PC is recommended and comes with virtual support software.
